Ingred Vaesen

I am Ingred Vaesen, born in 1966 in the old fortified town of Heusden in North Brabant.

I come from a creative family; both my parents were photographers. I inherited my love for creativity and imagery from them.

I am self-taught. Although I have been working as an artist for many years now, I still view my development as a creative journey in which I continue to discover and grow.

Painting and sculpting give me a sense of freedom and inner peace. While creating, I let go of my thoughts and work entirely intuitively. I start without a fixed plan and let the work slowly unfold.

I enjoy working with natural pigments and recycled materials that I find on the street, in nature, or in thrift stores. These materials already carry a history with them. By giving them a new life, unique artworks are created in which imperfection, texture, and character remain visible.

My work is characterized by a minimalist, rugged, and pure appearance. I find inspiration in nature, during travels, and in the beauty of everyday, weathered materials. My artworks bear Japanese titles. I feel strongly connected to the Wabi-Sabi philosophy, in which the beauty of imperfection, transience, and simplicity takes center stage. This idea forms the basis of my working method and can be found in almost every artwork.

Every painting and every sculpture is created intuitively and is completely unique.

My work was featured in the television program VT Wonen: Weer verliefd op je huis. Interior stylist Frans Uyterlinde discovered my work via Pinterest and selected it for a Wabi-Sabi interior.
